Lowcountry grilling experience
Lowcountry Grilling experience sessions are specially designed to expose grilling enthusiasts to the world of grilling and to Lowcountry cusine as prepared on the grill. Session 1 is the base course for the Lowcountry Grilling series; we begin with exploring grilling/BBQ basics and build upon that foundation. This session acquaints students to various grilling and smoking principles as a tool they can use when purchasing their next grill. Understanding grill styles and heat principle is important when deciding what fits your grilling needs. Every grill master makes critical decisions before they purchase a grill; those decisions help with the overall grill purchase.
In this session you’ll explore not only grill types, but you’ll become acquainted with additional aspects of grilling to include tools, wood for seasoning, timing and planning, grilling methods, fire building and mise en place.
Session 1 continues with a hands-on experience where you’ll begin using information that you gathered as you prepare the meal of the day.
As a hands-on exercise you’ll learn basics of brining and preparation for the evening meal. Each session concludes with a meal prepared by you and enjoyed by everyone.
Throughout this series, you explore ways to create conventional dishes on the grill. The Lowcountry is rich in history, historic foods, and a unique cuisine; you explore and investigate these wonderful offerings.
Lowcountry grilling Session two
Session Two covers that quintessential BBQ meat, which we all love and enjoy, pork ribs. Learn the skills of rib selection, preparation and grilling/smoking that American favorite of pork ribs. You’ll learn the different pork ribs and terminology; how to trim and prepare ribs for seasoning and finally how to grill or smoke that delicious and juicy rack of pork ribs. You’ll begin to learn how larger meats can be easily handled and how to get that moist grilled flavor from your efforts.
Lowcountry Grilling Session 3
Session 3 builds on what you’ve learned in the first two sessions as you delve deeper into Lowcountry BBQ and the cuisine that’s oh so Southern. Lowcountry BBQ is a time honored process of preparation, cooking and serving one of the most delectable meat in the South…BBQ. You’ll learn the history behind Lowcountry BBQ and how to prepare time honored dishes that have become known as Southern fare. Session 3 is the heart of what restaurants in the BBQ belt serve and are known for, good old fashion pulled pork or lip smacking BBQ. You’ll prepare a sumptuous pork BBQ diner with many favorites and some new items to broaden your experience.
Lowcountry Grilling Session 4
Having developed your grilling foundation, this series exposes you to grilling variation, or in simple terms what you can do with your grill that makes your grilling a hit. Many traditional or regional foods are well suited to grilling even though traditional preparations call for boiling or roasting. We’ll take dishes out of their traditional environment and thrust them into the world of grilling; lowcountry grilling.
Be prepared to experience a Thanksgiving dinner that is prepared on the grill and accompanied with all sorts of lowcountry dishes along with conventional Thanksgiving dishes.
Lowcountry grilling is a course designed to help you become a confident grill-master in your own backyard. It covers topics from grilling basics to complex grilling of entire holiday meals for you entire family.
