Welcome. Please come learn with us.

The LifeTides Institute is dedicated to educating people, especially young people, about the natural beauty and wonder of the Low Country region of South Carolina.

We were founded in 2002 with a mission to protect the coastal lands of this region by educating as many people as possible about the importance of where we live.  We believe that to learn about this area is to know it, and to know is to care about a place, and to care about a place is to help with its stewardship for the future.   We are especially interested in working with young people — to help their minds grow — to see the connections of this environment to life, to imagine the possibilities and to help become leaders for their own future.

PLEASE NOTE - FALL 2018 Participants in Road Scholar programs: Our location for hosting Road Scholar programs HAS NOT been negatively affected by Hurricane/Tropical Storm MICHAEL. There has been no serious impact from the storm in our local river basin and we will continue to host our Fall programs for Kayaking, Birding and Watercolor. We look forward to your arrival!
